Drum Venting Systems
Drum Venting Systems
Since the beginning of the movement to decommission, transport and store DOE’s transuranic waste at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad, New Mexico, NFTTM has developed solutions to the most difficult waste challenges each laboratory has faced. Specifically, many of the drums due to ship across our nation’s highways had high amounts of flammable gasses that needed to be measured, characterized and mitigated, which required a solution.
NFTTM has designed, engineered, manufactured and operated several types of Drum Venting Systems at DOE sites across the nation which allow each drum to be safely characterized and vented before shipment. Drum Venting Systems include: Mobile Drum Venting Systems at the Hanford site; Drum Venting System for high throughput at the Savannah River Site, Rocky Flats, and Los Alamos National Laboratory; Remote Drum Venting System in Idaho National Laboratory; Rapid Port Drum Venting System for Nevada Test Site and the Army; and CVS Drum Venting Systems for the Savannah River Site. All systems are designed, built and operated specifically for each site’s needs.
